WFU commends Nilsestuen for appointing raw milk panel

Chippewa Falls, Wis. (January 12, 2010) - Wisconsin Farmers Union President Doug Caruso commended Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary Rod Nilsestuen on appointing a panel to consider the raw milk sales issue.

"The issue of selling unpasteurized milk directly to consumers is challenging and multi-faceted. We are pleased that Secretary Nilsestuen has chosen a broad and diverse group of people to tackle this issue," Caruso said.

WFU Vice President Patty Edelburg was chosen to serve on the panel. Edelburg and her husband own and operate a 130-cow dairy farm in Portage County.

"We are delighted to have Patty Edelburg serve on the panel. Patty has great insight on this issue and will represent farmers' interests well," Caruso said.
