Join Wisconsin Farmers Union and the USDA Midwest Climate Hub for an informational presentation and interactive discussion on agricultural climate impacts, specifically for specialty crop producers and graziers in Northeast Wisconsin. 

​

Josh Bendorf, an ORISE Research Fellow with the USDA Midwest Climate Hub, will highlight need-to-know information for small farmers who are grazing or growing specialty crops. Farmers will learn about concrete on-farm strategies and tangible tools that can help them with farm decision-making.

​

Josh received a BS in Atmospheric Science from UW-Madison (2018) and a MS in Agricultural Meteorology from Iowa State (2021). Prior to working at the Midwest Climate Hub, Josh was a conservation specialist with Pheasants Forever/NRCS in southeastern Wisconsin, working with farmers to help them adopt grass-based conservation practices on their land. With his education and work experience, Josh brings a diverse expertise to the Midwest Climate Hub. Josh is originally from southwest Wisconsin where his family grows grains, forage, and maintains woodlands as wildlife habitat.

Soil Carbon amendments field day

Interested in improving soil on your farm? Attend this fall field day to learn about the benefits of biochar and compost as soil carbon amendments. Whitefeather Organics will provide a tour of their farm where they're currently using a biochar reactor, and Bucket Ruckus will share information about their composting process.

This field day is hosted by Wisconsin Farmers Union's Farm Climate Smart WI project, Golden Sands Resource Conservation and Development Council, Bucket Ruckus compost service, and Whitefeather Organics.
